GARDENING TOOLS

Wooden Handled Gardening Tools

Where can I recycle? »

Many gardening hand tools can be re-used by others, even if they need simple repairs.  If they are beyond repair though, you can sometimes recycle them at household waste recycling centres.

Pass them on…

Community and re-use organisations

  • Donate any gardening hand tools, including those that need simple repairs, to organisations that can re-use them.

Online

  • Pass on items for free at places such as Freecycle and Freegle;
  • Or sell them on websites like eBay and Gumtree.

Friends, family and local events

  • Ask family and friends - often they can use the things we don’t want anymore;
  • Sell items locally at car boots, nearly new and bring and buy sales;
  • Advertise in the local paper or on local noticeboards.

Give repairing a go…

Many of the things we throw away can often be repaired quite simply and cheaply. Not sure how?

  • Ask family and friends for help – you might be surprised at how ‘handy’ some of your friends are!
  • Search online for tips and advice on repairing gardening hand tools. There are some step-by-steps video guides on YouTube.

Recycle them…

  • Gardening hand tools cannot be put in your recycling bin at home;
  • Check with your local council to see if they accept gardening hand tools at the household waste recycling centre. This service varies across the country so it is important to check first.
